Terms of Service

The agreement between you and us covering the Kaddie app, the website, and how advice should be treated.

Effective 23 August 2026 · Last updated August 2026

These terms are a contract between you and Kadd.ie ("we", "us"). They cover the Kaddie iOS app, the kadd.ie website, and everything we provide through them. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Kaddie.

1Who may use Kaddie

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter a binding contract. If you are using Kaddie on behalf of a club or business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for them.

2This is a beta

Kaddie is currently invite-only and under active development. That means:

  • Features may change, break, or be removed without notice.
  • Course coverage is limited and expanding. Not every course is mapped, and mapped courses may contain errors.
  • We may need to reset data or end the beta. We will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data if we do.
  • Invite codes are personal to you. Please do not share or resell them.

3Your account

You need an account to use Kaddie. You sign in with an email address and a password. Choose a password you do not use anywhere else, keep it to yourself, give us accurate information, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for activity under your account.

You can delete your account at any time from Preferences › Account › Delete account in the app, or via the account deletion page.

4Advice is advice, not a guarantee

This is the most important section in these terms, so please read it.

  • Kaddie produces suggestions, generated automatically from course data, weather data, your logged distances and your question. They are not instructions and they are not guaranteed to be correct.
  • Every shot is your decision and your responsibility. Distances, hazard positions, elevation and wind readings can all be wrong or out of date.
  • AI-generated advice can be confidently wrong. If a recommendation does not match what you can see in front of you, trust your eyes.
  • Kaddie is not a substitute for your own judgement about safety. Look where you are hitting. Check the group ahead is clear, shout a warning when you need to, and never play into people.
  • Take your own decisions about weather. Come off the course in lightning regardless of what the app says.
  • Do not walk, drive a buggy, or take a swing while looking at your phone.

Kaddie does not measure or predict anything about your health, and must not be relied on for anything safety-critical.

5Competition and the Rules of Golf

Using Kaddie in a competition will usually breach the Rules of Golf. Rule 10.2 restricts the advice you may give or receive during a round, and Rule 4.3 restricts the equipment you may use — including devices that measure or gauge conditions such as wind or elevation, or that recommend a club or line of play.

  • It is your responsibility to know the rules of any competition you enter and the local rules in force.
  • Distance-only information is often permitted under a Local Rule; club recommendations and condition-gauging generally are not.
  • We are not responsible for any penalty, disqualification or lost handicap record arising from your use of Kaddie.
  • When in doubt, ask the committee before you tee off.

6Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • Break the law, or use Kaddie to help someone else break it.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or try to extract our course data or models, except to the extent the law says you may.
  • Scrape, bulk-download or resell any part of the service or its data.
  • Use automated systems to hammer our API, or otherwise interfere with the service for other people.
  • Share your account, sell your invite, or impersonate anyone.
  • Upload anything unlawful, abusive, or infringing.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.

7Your content and feedback

Your rounds, shots, notes and questions belong to you. You give us a licence to host and process them so we can run the service for you, and to use de-identified and aggregated versions to improve our recommendations. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for aggregated data that can no longer be linked to you.

If you send us feedback or a feature idea, we may use it freely and without owing you anything. Please do not send us confidential information you do not want us to act on.

8Our intellectual property

The Kaddie app, the Kadd.ie name and logo, our own mapping and modelling work, and everything else we provide remain ours or our licensors’. Some of the underlying data comes from third parties on their own licence terms — see Maps, weather and attribution.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial golf. That is the whole of what you get — no other rights are granted.

9Maps, weather and attribution

Kaddie is built on outside data sources as well as our own work, and their licences travel with the data.

OpenStreetMap
Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). See openstreetmap.org/copyright.
Mapbox
Map rendering and geospatial services, used under the Mapbox Terms of Service.
OpenWeather
Wind and conditions data supplied by OpenWeather.
OpenAI
Shot recommendations are generated using OpenAI models. See our Privacy Policy for what is sent to them.

You may not extract, copy or redistribute this data except as those licences allow, and where a source imposes terms on end users you agree to comply with them. We do not control any of these providers, we cannot guarantee their data is accurate or available, and we are not responsible for their content. The same goes for your device’s GPS.

10App Store terms

These provisions apply because you got the app from Apple’s App Store. They are required by Apple.

  • This agreement is between you and us only, not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
  • Your licence to use the app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, including the Family Sharing provisions.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it — including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that the app or your use of it infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and on your acceptance Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you.

If you have a question or complaint about the app, contact us at hello@kadd.ie — not Apple.

11Subscriptions and payments

Kaddie is currently free during the beta. If and when we introduce paid plans, the following will apply, and we will tell you before you are ever charged.

  • Payment is taken by Apple, through your Apple Account. We never see your card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the price and interval shown at purchase, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Renewal is charged to your Apple Account within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You manage and cancel subscriptions in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your device. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
  • We may change prices. Existing subscribers will be given notice and the chance to cancel before a new price takes effect.

12Changes to the service and these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes or the law requires. If a change matters, we will give you reasonable notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Kaddie after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not accept them, you can close your account.

13Ending this agreement

You can stop using Kaddie and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive — intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law — survive termination.

14Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, Kaddie is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate for any particular course, or fit for any particular purpose. We make no promise about your scores.

Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under Irish, UK or EU law. If you are a consumer, you keep your statutory rights in full, and nothing in these terms is intended to limit them.

15Limitation of liability

We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss arising from a shot you played or did not play on our advice; and our total liability to you for all claims connected with Kaddie is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €100.

16Indemnity

If you are using Kaddie for business purposes rather than as a consumer, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the service.

17Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer resident in the EU or the UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your own country, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing here requires you to arbitrate or to give up a claim you would otherwise have.

Before going to court, please try us first — most things are quicker to fix over email: hello@kadd.ie.

18General

  • These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Kaddie.
  • If any part is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
  • Not enforcing a term straight away does not mean we have given it up.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if the business is sold, provided your rights are not reduced.
  • Except for Apple as described above, nobody other than you and us has rights under these terms.
